Stray Kitten finds himself in hot “soup”

Cat InsuranceA stray kitten found himself in hot “soup” after rummage for food saw him get his head well and truly stuck in a soup can.

The kitty was found strolling along the roadside in Kentucky, Louisville, and was taken to a local animal centre.

Distressed and suffering from hypothermia, vets were quick to act using bolt cutters to remove the can and set about treating the potentially life threatening condition.

Luckily the stray responded to treatment. Restored to full health he is now looking for a new home, where he will hopefully stay clear of soup cans.

2011 could be the worst year yet for unwanted kittens

The Cats Protections has made a desperate appeal for people to neuter their pets after fears that this year could be the worst year yet for unwanted kittens.

During Summer 2010 there was an 18 percent increase in kittens arriving at adoption centres and there are concerns that this year will be even worse.

Staff working for the organisation are already reporting litters of kittens that have been dumped.

Each year the charity takes in around 5,700 unwanted kittens throughout its branches in the UK. It costs them a total of £1.9 million a year to look after them all.

Just one unneutered female cat can produce up to 18 kittens in one year, so neutering can really help drive down the number of unwanted kittens.

Love cat looking for home

A black and white cat called Bette Davis has been abandoned by her previous owners and now looking for a new home. But she is not any old moggy, as the two year old cat has an unusual marking on her side, a perfect love heart. She has become quite a hit with the animal carers at Gables farm Dogs & Cats Home since her arrival as a dishevelled little moggy. She is a shy cat, but as soon as she is picked up she purrs away and enjoys the attention. We hope she will find a loving home where she will be fully appreciated.

Successful rescue for Kittens stuck in a Wall

Any new kitten owner will know that their furry friend can get themselves into all sorts of mischief.

However, three new kitten’s in Florida took the levels of mischief to the extreme as they became stuck in the wall of 73 year old Mrs Seward home.

The Kittens, thought to be stray, were heard meowing by Mrs Seward who called the fire brigade.

When the rescue team arrived they punched holes in the walls and placed cameras down the wall cavity to find the stray meow.

Locating one kitten the team thought the rescue mission was over, surely only one cat could have been trapped.

However, that night Mrs Seward continued to hear meowing and called the team out again.

The fire brigade returned and rescued a further two kittens.

Despite falling in love with the rescued kittens Mrs Seward, already having three cats, could not take the kittens in. However, it was not long before the kittens, with international fame, found new owners.
